This evening, Cartoonist Mike Konopacki will host this labor-themed reception, art exhibit, and author panel with the theme of "Workers of Wisconsin Unite." This evening, the Madison Labor Temple hosts Maine actor, playwright, and professor Harlan Baker who will appear in a one man show "Jimmy Higgins: A Life in the Labor Movement”. It is based on the mythical character who represents the rank-and-file worker. He tells the largely forgotten story of the labor movement in America during the first half of the 20th century. Preceding the play will be a dedication of the Madison Labor History Mural, and a reception. The mural, representing Madison labor history, surrounds the indoor entrance to the Madison Labor Temple, and was created through a joint effort of artists and volunteers. Tomorrow morning, Churches Center for Land and People host a locally produced and prepared meal while attending an indoor farmers market. There is a suggested donation and proceeds go to the farmers who provided ingredients for the meal and 10% goes to the Harvest of Hope fund which relieves farmers in financial distress.
