This weekend is the Mega Used Book Sale benefiting Wisconsin Books to Prisoners. Since 2006, Wisconsin Books to Prisoners, a project of Rainbow Bookstore Co-op, has provided thousands of books to inmates in WI prisons, as well as to LGBT prisoners nationwide. Rainbow Bookstore believes that reading is a basic human right and that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn and grow through books, including those who are incarcerated. Sunday is the Annual Black-Latino Unity Picnic. The picnic is a part of a long-term project called Black-Latino Unity, which tries to erase divisions and build bridges between the struggles of the black and Latino communities. Madison's End Hate Photo Shoot Campaign is being held today from 12-7pm in the Great Hall of Memorial Union. Come find out about LGBT issues facing the community, hear from guest speakers, and show your support for equality and the end to hate by taking your very own picture. This evening, the Colombia Film series continues with “Secrets of the Choco”. The documentary looks at the choices for development facing the Choco in Colombia, one of the largest relatively unspoiled rainforests on the planet. It still has thousands of undiscovered plants and animals, and contains undisturbed ancient forests and shorelines, but large scale development plans and the impending completion of the Pan American Highway threaten the future of the Choco and the lives of the blacks and Indians who live along the banks of its maze of rivers.
