On Saturday - 100 Thousand Poets for Change is hosting 600 events in 450 cities and 95 countries to promote environmental, social, and political change. Tonight the film Cultures of Resistance will have its Madison premier at the Madison World Music Festival. It is a feature-length documentary that celebrates the role of music, art and creativity in the battle for peace and justice on a world-wide scale. Globe University-Madison East is hosting a community blood drive on Monday, September 12th from 10:30 - 3:30pm at Globe University, 4901 Eastpark Blvd. The American Red Cross will be on campus collecting blood donations. The film premiere of 9/11: "Explosive Evidence, Experts Speak Out" presents 50 experts discussing the evidence for controlled demolition of the 3 World Trade Center buildings and is offered in the spirit of honoring lost lives by honoring truth and justice. Fran Ulmer, who recently retired as chancellor at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2010 to the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Ulmer will give a lecture, "The Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill: Lessons Learned and Actions Needed," at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, in Lubar Commons of the UW Law School. Dane County Humane Society will be hosting a free public screening of the 'Mad City Chickens' documentary on Saturday, Sept. 10th, following the annual Mad City Chickens Coop tour.
