The film premiere of 9/11: "Explosive Evidence, Experts Speak Out" presents 50 experts discussing the evidence for controlled demolition of the 3 World Trade Center buildings and is offered in the spirit of honoring lost lives by honoring truth and justice. Fran Ulmer, who recently retired as chancellor at the University of Alaska-Anchorage, was appointed by President Barack Obama in 2010 to the National Commission on the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and Offshore Drilling. Ulmer will give a lecture, "The Deepwater Horizon Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill: Lessons Learned and Actions Needed," at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, in Lubar Commons of the UW Law School. "Life After Capitalism: Toward a More Humane, Just, & Democratic Economy" is a discussion sponsored by the Socialist Party of South Central Wisconsin. The discussion will be at the Wil-Mar Center Mendota Room, 953 Jenifer St on Saturday the 10th at 4pm. For information call 231-3015.

Dane County Humane Society will be hosting a free public screening of the 'Mad City Chickens' documentary on Saturday, Sept. 10th, following the annual Mad City Chickens Coop tour. Doors will open at 1:30PM. There will also be a silent auction for a piece of artwork by local artist Sue Medaris, a drawing for prizes, free childcare, and snacks for sale. Operation Homefront invites you to join us for Freedom Walk 2011. Throughout the country, citizens will gather to walk together as a nation uniting our communities behind a commitment to never forget the lives we lost in the attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. Freedom Walk begins at the State Capital on Sunday September 11th. Registration and check in will begin at 7:00am with a ceremony at 7:45am and the walk immediately following. Madison Hours is hosting "Hours Pancake Breakfast!" The pancakes are organic and vegan and you can get 'em plain or with nuts and/or fruits.
