Madison Women's International League for Peace & Freedom is hosting their 'Annual Peace & Freedom Dinner.' Appetizers start at 5pm, dinner at 6:15 and keynote speaker Senator Lena Taylor at 7- speaking on the topic - "Building Real Democracy in Wisconsin - What Will It Take?" In 'Food, Inc.', filmmaker Robert Kenner lifts the veil on our nation's food industry, exposing the highly mechanized underbelly that has been hidden from the American consumer with the consent of our government's regulatory agencies, USDA and FDA. A viewing of the movie will be at Madison Public Library, Alicia Ashman Branch, 733 North High Point Road on Friday August 19 at 7PM. Call 824-1780 to register.

Register now for a unique, in-depth, six-week course on "Immigration as a Moral Issue," This is the first time this national course has come to Madison. The course will run from 2 to 4 p.m. on six Sundays from September 18 through October 23 at the James Reeb Congregation, 2146 East Johnson Street. The class is limited to the first 50 people who register, and the registration deadline is September 4. Facilitated by part-time Arizona human rights activist Leila Pine, the course will have guest speakers from the local Latino community each week, plus field trips to Centro Guadalupe in Madison and to Voces de la Frontera in Milwaukee to hear the personal stories of immigrant families.
