The Women4Women (W4W) Annual Picnic will be on August 13 at Governor Nelson State Park. A shelter is reserved so plan on attending rain or shine. This is a family-friendly event so bring along the kids. There is swimming, boating, and we will have yard games to play. Feel free to bring along any games as well. The recall elections for State Senators are July 12th, July 19th, August 9th and August 16th. These elections are a crucial first step toward reclaiming the Wisconsin we know and love, and we need your help to ensure the integrity of these vital elections. You can do this by volunteering as a poll watcher with the Election Defense Alliance. Training is provided and you are not required to live in the district to become a poll watcher. The Madison Astronomical Society is a local all-volunteer organization of people interested in amateur astronomy. They welcome anyone 15 years of age or older to join as a guest or as a new member. The Society will be having a meeting Friday, August 12 from 7:00 PM - 09:30 PM at the UW Space Place

'Signs of Protest' Photographic Exhibition captures the energy and spirit of the iconic, and ongoing, chapter of Wisconsin's history. As protesters marched in, and around, the Capitol building, photographers from every walk of life were there to capture the dynamic unfolding of events. This exhibition includes a range of human interest images related to the recent protest events, from the blatant to the subtle, from the somber to the humorous, and from the emotional to the contemplative. The Center for Photography at Madison is located at 303 South Paterson Street, and is open to the public Saturdays 10 am – 3 pm through August 27, 2011. Community Literacy is a Literacy Network ESL program designed to tutor adult learners one-on-one in a classroom setting where childcare and additional tutor support are available.
