Tonight, the Food for Thought Film Series continues with 'The Garden' - an Academy Award nominated documentary that looks at the famous political and social battle over the largest community garden in the U.S, located in south central Los Angeles. MadCat Pet Supplies is having a 'Tame Cat and Kitten Adoption Fair'. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated appropriate for their age, dewormed, FELV and FIV tested. Sunday, the Boat Parade on Lake Mendota takes place at dusk, on the shoreline from Maple Bluff to the UW Memorial Union. The boat parade starts at 7:45 PM with fireworks @ 9:15.

The Labor Fest takes place Monday September 5th, from 12 Noon – 5:30 pm at the Labor Temple, 1602 South Park Street. Live music by Westside Andy / Mel Ford Band, followed by Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound. Events for kids include magic acts, a bounce house, face painting and a piñata. The Insurgent Radio Kiosk is seeking readers for our new Monday night recording session. The recording session starts on Mondays at 5:15pm and will last 15 to 30 minutes. Each volunteer is asked to make a commitment to come into the station twice monthly. Join the team to help W-O-R-T inform our community of current activities around Madison!
