Tonight, Madison Friends Meeting House hosts Ken Butigan, Declaration of Peace national organizer, who will talk about the Declaration and lead nonviolence training. The training will explore the why and how of civil disobedience, what situations and decisions you need to be prepared to face, how to overcome problems and work together to accomplish the action's goals, and how to deal with the unexpected. They have been spending almost six thousand dollars a week since the June fourteenth seizure of forty-eight pit bulls who were reportedly mistreated. Project Home is in search of volunteers and donations for the Annual Dane County Paint-A-Thon on Saturday, August 19. Since 1989, the Dane County Paint-A-Thon has revitalized nearly 500 homes for those in need in the community. The program’s vision is to provide no cost exterior painting services to low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in Dane County. The Project also needs brushes, paint pans, rollers, painting tape, gift cards to Paint Supply Stores, and other related supplies. Fabian Andrés León Peñuela, nineteen years old, and Camilo Andrés Andrade León, twenty one years old are Universidad Central students in Bogotá, Colombia. Peñuela’s father is an officer in the teacher's union, "FECODE". The two young men are receiving death threats on a daily basis due to this man’s involvement with the union.
