Tuesday afternoon there is the next in a series of South Madison farmer’s markets. Aside from fresh produce, flowers and baked goods there are monthly musical, culinary and cultural events. Tuesday evening is the monthly Madison Hours potluck for the local currency community. Attendees are invited to bring a dish to pass and enjoy conversation with other Hours members. It is in the Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson Street at 6:00. Call 259-9050 for details.

Tuesday evening the Peregrine Forum and others hold a discussion with veteran geologist, Colin Campbell concerning "Peak Oil". This is at 6:30 in Escape Java Joint, 916 Williamson Street. Call 442-8399 for details.

The Dane County Humane Society tries not to perform euthanasia’s on animals. They have been spending almost six thousand dollars a week since the June fourteenth seizure of forty-eight pit bulls who were reportedly mistreated. As such, they are asking for people to consider adopting or providing foster care to an animal. They may also donate time, money or pet supplies to the shelter at 5132 Voges Road. Through September the Williamson Street Art Center presents "Fabrications". It is a cloth celebration of Madison’s one hundred and fifty years. These are "Fabric Collages" by Sharon Kilfoy made from artifacts collected from the "Community" and "sewn at sewing bees in Madison". It is at 1020 Williamson Street. Call 256-8878 for details.

The Project Home’s annual Dane County Paint-A-Thon is on August twenty-first. Project Home improves the quality and affordability of housing for low- to moderate-income residents of Dane and Green Counties. In Dane County they provide no cost exterior painting services to low-income elderly and disabled homeowners. Donations of paint supplies, money and volunteer time are appreciated.
