Tuesday afternoon there is the next in a series of South Madison farmer’s markets. Aside from fresh produce, flowers and baked goods there are monthly musical, culinary and cultural events. Tuesday evening there is the next in a series of University Summer Forums concerning Race and Media. The sessions include "Race and Diversity" and others. The facilitator is Mark Anthony Rolo and the presenters include Ray Allen, Katie Sai and others. This is through August tenth on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:00 in 1100 Granger Hall, 975 University Avenue. Call 262-1464 for details.

Through September the Williamson Street Art Center presents "Fabrications". It is a cloth celebration of Madison’s one hundred and fifty years. These are "Fabric Collages" by Sharon Kilfoy made from artifacts collected from the "Community" and "sewn at sewing bees in Madison". It is at 1020 Williamson Street. Call 256-8878 for details.

Fabian Andrés León Peñuela, nineteen years old, and Camilo Andrés Andrade León, twenty one years old are Universidad Central students in Bogotá, Colombia. Peñuela’s father is an officer in the teacher's union, "FECODE". The two young men are receiving death threats on a daily basis due to this man’s involvement with the union. They are looking to leave the country until the situation cools down. Call 202-778-6367 for details.
