Project Home is in search of volunteers and donations for the Annual Dane County Paint-A-Thon on Saturday, August 19. Since 1989, the Dane County Paint-A-Thon has revitalized nearly 500 homes for those in need in the community. The program’s vision is to provide no cost exterior painting services to low-income elderly and disabled homeowners in Dane County. The Project also needs brushes, paint pans, rollers, painting tape, gift cards to Paint Supply Stores, and other related supplies. Saturday afternoon, the Prisoners’ Action Coalition hold a Picnic for Families and Friends of Prisoners. Former prisoners will be on hand to answer questions regarding the prison system the Coalition will hold a discussion on strategies to change Wisconsin’s prison system. Bring a dish to share. Meat and beverages will be provided. This is at Washington Park Area 6, 1859 North 40th Street, in Milwaukee, from noon to 4. Call 822-4253 or 262-965-7291 for details.

Rape Crisis Center is looking for women to staff their 24-hour confidential crisis line. Women fluent in Spanish are especially needed. The Center will provide training in the fall over five sessions and volunteers must complete the application and interview process prior to attending training.
