Monday afternoon there is a computer lab. It is at the Catholic Multicultural Center, 1862 Beld Street on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1:00 to 4:00. Call 255-1287 for details. This is followed by a free community meal at 4:00.

The Homeshare Program at Independent Living Incorporated matches older adults with working people or students who are in need of low cost housing are able to provide some assistance around the house. Call 274-6900 and ask for Homeshare for details.

Tina Campbell was actively involved in the Justice for Janitors campaign. She was also the mother of three year old Marcus. Recently her life was taken. The Marcus Fudge Benefit fund was set up to help her son in the future. "Through a Painter’s Eye: Twenty Views of Taliesin" is the current art exhibit at The Frank Lloyd Wright Visitors Center. Madison Graduate Artist L. Genevieve Davis, M.F.A of Milwaukee created these paintings of Taliesin. This is at the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor’s Center in Spring Green, Wisconsin, from now through October. From now until August sixteenth Olbrich Botanical Gardens features live butterflies during its "Blooming Butterflies" exhibit in the conservatory and "Kid’s butterfly passport" walk. This is at 3330 Atwood Avenue everyday starting at 10:00. Call 256-4550 for details.

WORT is looking for help in recording and reading for The Insurgent Radio Kiosk. This would require a minimum of one hour per week. It is a wonderful opportunity to help your local community radio station and get some real-life experience in radio. Tuesday evening is the South Madison National Night Out and kickoff of the New Day in the Bram’s Edition Neighborhood Campaign. It starts with catered dinner and speakers such as Reverend David Smith. It ends with a candlelight neighborhood walk featuring accompanied by the ‘Handphibians". Wednesday at noon on WORT’s A Public Affair host Esty Dinur speaks with Jonathan Beers of Madison Gas and Electric about energy conservation and life with less energy. Call 256-2001 for details.

The Home Chore Volunteer Program is in need of volunteers citywide to assist low-income elderly persons with basic home chores. The various tasks, which will help these older adults to remain independent in their own homes and neighborhoods, include light housecleaning, laundry, snow shoveling and more. Sunday, the Peregrine Forum holds a discussion entitled “Green Anarchy & Neo Primitivism: An Introduction to John Zerzon”. The Respite Center seeks volunteers to work in its child care program. The Respite Center is 24-hour emergency child care and counseling agency that helps out families in crisis. To volunteer, call Kristin at the Respite Center at 244-5730.

The School of Hope seeks volunteers to help children read. Volunteering opportunities exist for as little as a half hour per week. To help, call 246-5481.

Madison Hours invites grassroots groups to cosponsor their monthly pancake breakfast fund raiser. The breakfast occurs the second Sunday of each month from 8:30 to 11:00 at the Wilmar Center. Cosponsors are asked to help publicize the fund raiser to their members and provide two volunteers for the duration of the breakfast. Madison Coalition for a “Bring the Troops Home” holds an organizing session. Their aim is to place a voter referendum for troop withdrawal from the Middle East on an April 2006 ballot measure. Tonight, the African Studies Program Summer Film Festival presents the film “Karmen Geï” from Senegal. Tomorrow, Dr. Nikki Johnson, a Madison, Wisconsin Animal Chiropractor, holds an event featuring information, insights, and options available for the well being of animals. This includes many natural animal health care exhibitors, presentations and demonstrations available throughout the day. Concessions and children’s activities are offered. There is an admission fee and a portion of the profits will be donated to an animal rehabilitation program. This is at Angel Park in Sun Prairie from 9 to 5. Tomorrow, the statewide finalists compete in the Launchpad Music Competition. These high-school bands are the final 6 of 75 entries in Wisconsin.
