Madison Coalition for a “Bring the Troops Home” holds an organizing session. Their aim is to place a voter referendum for troop withdrawal from the Middle East on an April 2006 ballot measure. Tonight, the African Studies Program Summer Film Festival presents the film “Karmen Geï” from Senegal. It is about the infinite desire for freedom and the laws, conventions, languages, the human limitations which constrain that desire. This is at 7:30 in Room 1230 of Grainger Hall, 975 University Avenue.

Tonight, the East Timor Action Network holds its regular meeting. This is in the Mother Fool’s Coffeehouse, Williamson Street, at 7. Check www.aideasttimor.org for more information.

Tomorrow, Dr. Nikki Johnson, a Madison, Wisconsin Animal Chiropractor, holds an event featuring information, insights, and options available for the well being of animals. This includes many natural animal health care exhibitors, presentations and demonstrations available throughout the day. Concessions and children’s activities are offered. There is an admission fee and a portion of the profits will be donated to an animal rehabilitation program. This is at Angel Park in Sun Prairie from 9 to 5. Tomorrow, the statewide finalists compete in the Launchpad Music Competition. These high-school bands are the final 6 of 75 entries in Wisconsin. Natty Nation headlines the competition with a 90-minute set. Launchpad is funded by Wisconsin Foundation for School Music, an organization that promotes musical events and education for school-age children. Sunday, Coming out Coming Together, an interfaith coalition of religious groups and individuals committed to building bridges among LGBTQ people, holds a pre-pride prayerful moment. This is from 11:30 to noon in the courtyard garden of First United Methodist Church, 1 block north of the capitol on Wisconsin Avenue. For more information, call Cindy Crane at 468-5836.

Sunday, there is a LGBT Pride Rally with guest speakers Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager and Representative Tammy Baldwin. This begins at the State Street Steps of the State Capitol at noon. For more information, check www.madisonpride.org.

Sunday, the Peregrine Forum holds a discussion of the book “Anarchy in the Age of the Dinosaurs: What Some Anarchists Are Thinking These Days”. This event is part of the Forum’s continuing Eco-Radicalism series. The books are available at the Madison Infoshop. This is at 616 Brearly Street from 3 to 5. The Madison Infoshop seeks submissions for its Annual Disorientation Guide. The Guide is an alternative to the main stream media’s coverage of the world and its purpose of the Madison Infoshop’s ever popular guide is to familiarize and empower people with a this community and hopefully help them break through the college PR machine to discover the exciting activist reality that is all around them.
