Today at 4:00 pm the Havens Center will sponsor the seminar, “Western Sociology's 'Others': The Discourse and Practices of Indegeneity, Endogeneity, and Colonial Modernity" with Sujata Patel, University of Hyderabad, India. There will be a discussion with labor negotiator & attorney Joe Burns about his new book “Reviving the Strike”. Burns will explore how and why this traditional labor strategy is still relevant and effective today. Books will be available for purchase and signing. This is at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. The Interfaith Society will observe the Eve of the International Day of Peace with an Interfaith Roundtable Discussion. This is tonight from 6:30 to 8:00pm at the Middleton Public Library Archer Room, 7425 Hubbard Avenue in Middleton. Call 242-4244 for more information.

Tomorrow, as part of Interfaith Awareness Week, you are encouraged to observe the UN International Day of Peace. Thousands of organizations and hundreds of millions of people worldwide observe this occasion. The largest global observance of the International Day of Peace was on or around Sept. 21st. others will continue through Oct. 2, Gandhi's birthday and the International Day of Non-Violence. One focal point across the entire planet will be the minute of silence at 12:00 noon, in all time zones worldwide, on Sept. 21 as requested by Ban Ki-moon, Secretary General of the United Nations.
