This evening, the African Studies Program in partnership with the Returned Peace Corps Volunteers of Wisconsin-Madison and more hosts Johnnie Carson
, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs. He will talk as part of the Peace Corps and Africa: 50 Years Celebration. This is free and open to the public. It is in Mills Music Hall of the Humanities Building, 455 North Park Street, at 6:30. Check africa.wisc.edu for more details.

Tonight, Project Lodge hosts an opening reception for Matthew Miulice's new exhibit. Mikulice’s whimsical explorations delve into the realms of pop culture. It runs through March 31. Tomorrow, Jin-Wen Yu Dance & the UW-Madison Dance Department present “March Into Sunlight”, a dance concert of choreography inspired by Pulitzer Prize-winning author David Maraniss’ “They Marched Into Sunlight”. The book is a chronicle of two events in October 1967: the ambush of a US battalion by North Vietnamese soldiers and a UW-Madison student riot protesting Dow Chemical. Sunday, members of the Dane County School Board Consortium and the Wisconsin Alliance for Excellent Schools hold a Community Meeting on the Future of Public Education & a Call to Action. Their aims increased understanding of school funding and the present challenges; alternatives to cuts in funding to public education; & formation of community advocacy groups.
