Tonight, Dr. Ghada Talhami gives a lecture on "Arab Feminism and the Prospects for Democracy in Egypt". Dr. Talhami is the author of six books and a specialist on Middle East and Egyptian politics, Arab women and Arab feminism, and related subjects. This event is co-sponsored by the Madison Infoshop, UW Department of Comparative Literature, Madison Rafah Sister City Project, and the Peregrine Forum. Iraq Veterans Against the War calls on all veterans and peace organizations to mobilize to Madison, Wisconsin on March 19th - the 8th anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, to stand in solidarity with workers organizing for their rights. They will be joined in the streets by the AFL-CIO, union members, and their supporters: This meets at 10 at Library Mall, 750 State Street for a march up State Street. Tomorrow afternoon, the Sunlight Project & Symposium holds a panel discussion entitled “War on Campus” about the Vietnam War and recent military in the Middle East. The panel includes UW-Madison professors Jeremi Suri, Craig Werner, and Doug Bradley, and is moderated by Buff Brennan. This is in Lathrop Hall off of University Avenue from 1:30 to 3. Sunday, Churches Center for Land and People host a locally produced and prepared meal with an indoor farmers market. There is a suggested donation and proceeds go to the farmers who provided ingredients for the meal, with 10% going to the Harvest of Hope fund which relieves farmers in financial distress.
