Tonight, there is an art exhibition and concert with proceeds benefiting the Wisconsin Democratic Party's committee to recall 8 Republican senators. From 5 to 7:30, it features SolidARTity Exhibition with work from local artists and The Project Lodge w/ jazz music from Charlie Painter & Friends. From 8 to bar time, the Black CAPS, Venus in Furs, the Type, John Masino, Anna Wang & the Oh Boys, and Mikey Fuss & The Cherokee 3 play. This is at the Orpheum Stage Door, 216 State Street. Tonight, the Labor & Working Class Studies Project presents a Teach-in on “The Economics of the Wisconsin Labr Struggle. The event will answer “Are public sector workers responsible for the state's fiscal crisis?”, “Who's got a vested economic interest in this fight and who benefits and loses?” “What would an alternative budget that involves "shared sacrifice" look like?” and “ What is the relationship among unions, the economy, and inequality?” This is free and open to the public and is at the First United Methodist Church, 203 Wisconsin Avneue, at 7. Tomorrow morning, Churches Center for Land and People host a locally produced and prepared meal while attending an indoor farmers market. There is a suggested donation and proceeds go to the farmers who provided ingredients for the meal and 10% goes to the Harvest of Hope fund which relieves farmers in financial distress. Tomorrow is a meeting about food and community entitled “Just Eats: Changing Food for our Community. “Just Eats” brings people together, supports the sharing of skills and knowledge, and highlights the range of work in the community. The forum model begins with participants identifying their goals and the questions that they want to work through. There is a participation charge. Scholarships are available and TimeBank hours are accepted. Lunch, childcare and Spanish interpretation are provided. Sunday morning, Madison Hours and Women’s Autonomous Movement hold their monthly Pancake Breakfast. All pancakes are organic and vegan with nuts or fruits. The breakfast also features oven-roasted potatoes, organic fair trade coffee, orange juice, and live music. Madison HOURS promotes local trade through local currency and the Women’s Autonomist Movement works to provide a forum for women's groups and individual activists to network.
