A group of local artists will be showing their creative works in a collective Verde Art show at Manna Café & Bakery in Madison during the month of February. Manna Café is located at 611 North Sherman Avenue. Show hours will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information contact Kathy Esch at 220-9700.
Registration has begun for a free 8-session discussion course organized by Sustain Dane and entitled “Monroe Street: Discovering a Sense of Place”. The group will meet every Wednesday beginning February 20th and aims to explore the meaning of a bio-regional perspective of our surroundings and develop a more conscious relationship with the Monroe Street area. Thursday is the last day to preview the upcoming 10-week course on Green Living. The course is offered by Fort Health Care in Ft Atkinson, is free and open to the public. The 10-week course will begin in February and today’s preview is in the Fort Health Care Auditorium. To sign up for the course call Kathleen at 920-568-5246.
The UW Educational & Psychological Training, in co-operation with OutReach, is making counseling services available on a sliding scale to the LGBTQ communities. They provide services to individuals, couples, and families with a variety of pressing concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, and general life adjustment problems. Bi-lingual counselors and interpreters (Spanish) are also available. The clinic is located in Room 316 of the Educational Science Bldg, 1025 W. Johnson and hours are 5-8pm Mondays and Wednesdays For appointments call 265-6120.
Thursday night at 7 PM, the Second Annual Fabulous Crone Show, a variety show featuring talented women 50 and older, will be featured at Meriter Main Gate, 333 W Main Street. Reservations are recommended. Tickets are donation based. For detaails call 225.9664 or check out croneshow.com
StageQ has announced a second February production: Dark Night Shorts, a collection of short plays by Linda Suzuki and Carol Mullen, directed by Katy Conley. “Dark night” is a theater expression for the weekday nights a play is not running in the theater. StageQ is concurrently offering Looking for Normal as it’s main feature this month. Dates for the shows are Feb 17 to Feb 27 at the Bartell Theatre, 113 East Miffling= Street. Call 661-9696.

Thursdday is the first day of a 3-day conference about The Privatization of Security and Human Rights in The Americas : Perspectives from the Global South. The free event will be held through Saturday at the UW-Madison Pyle Center. For details call 262-1420.
