This evening, there is a public forum with DJ Kool entitled “From Old School to New School: An Intergenerational Dialogue with the Pioneer of Hip Hop”. Tonight is the First Wave Jump-Off Celebration featuring Clyde Stubblefield, DJ Kool Herc, K Swift, Queen Godis & Baba Israel, and Madison’s own Dumate. This is free and open to the public. This is on the UW Madison Memorial Union Terrace at 9. Check youthspeakswisconsin.org for more details.


Tonight, the Summer Rooftop Cinema Series Continues with “Film As a Battlefield”. The five films in this program consider the idea of battlefields and destruction, with targets as varied as U.S. military bases in the Middle East and the filmstrip itself. Sunday, There is meeting about Madison Kipp entitled “Anti-Communism, Anti-Unionism, and Anti Environmentalism: Pages from the History of Kipp and a Corporate Family Dynasty” This is a discussion of the early involvement of the Kipp Corporation founder with Senator Joe McCarthy, a screening of the 1963 film "Point of Order,” and an update on recent Kipp pollution guidelines.
