Tomorrow morning Progressive Round Table Discussion of Naomi Klein’s new book, "Shock Doctrine: the Rise of Disaster Capitalism" with Doctor Eugene Farley will take place Saturday from 9 to Noon at Meriter Main Gate, 333 W. Saturday at 11:00 am at the Wilmar Center (953 Jenifer Street ) a Free Meals and Movie Series! is planned with a screening of "Ella Fitzgerald: Something to Live For" – an "American Masters" documentary. It will be followed by a screening of the 2004 Oscar winner, "Crash!". Reportedly it is a a compelling thriller set in Las Angeles that takes a candid look at race relations in the United States today. More info at 257-4576

Tomorrow afternoon Black History Month discussion of Toni Morrison's Beloved - facilitated by Doctor Lenore Jean Daniels will be held Saturday at 3:00 pm at the Stendahl Parlor, 404 South Park Street - above the Universal Audio, entrance in rear. Saturday evening the will be a Socialist Potluck. This is at 5:3O in the Wilmar Center, 953 Jenifer Street. This month’s topic is “The Elections – What’s a Progressive to Do? “ with panelists: Steve Burns, Ben Manski, Joe Elder, and a member of the International Socialist Organization (ISO). Sunday morning from 8:30 to 11:00 there will be a Madison Hours Pancake Breakfast at the Wilmar Center, 953 Jenifer Street. The pancakes are organic and vegan. Attendees can get them plain or with nuts and/or fruits. There are oven-roasted potatoes, organic fair trade coffee, orange juice, live music, friends and neighbors. The WORT Community Radio Station, 89.9 FM - Annual Meeting will be held Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Escape Java Joint, 916 Williamson Street There is an election to fill two Participating Member (volunteer) seats and one Listener seat on the Board of Directors. The WORT Board has nine members. Eight of them are elected by the membership and a staff representative elected by the paid staff. Board candidate information is available in the yellow binder in the station lobby and also on the website wort-fm.org. The meeting will feature reports, a demonstration of HD digital radio, food and beverages. Call 256-2001 for details.
