THE
HISTORY OF August 13th, I'm ___________________.
AND I'm ___________.
Today in 1955: Lamar Smith, a World War Two veteran who organized black voters
in Brookhaven, Mississippi, is shot to death in front of the Lincoln County
Courthouse.
Charged for the slaying
will be three men --Noah Smith, Mack Smith and Charles Falvey. But a grand jury
will find no witnesses to testify against them, even though a large number of
people were near the courthouse during the shooting.
