Friday night at Sundown, the Madison Infoshop (1019 Williamson Street) will offer a free outdoor screening of Favela Rising, a documentary about the life of Anderson Sa, the founder of the grassroots Afro-Reggae movement. Saturday from 9 to 1 pm, the Sheboygan Community Garden (behind Hill Farm's DOT Boulevard off Segoe and Sheboygan Avenue) will hold a gathering. All current and aspiring community garden leaders, along with gardeners and community members, are invited to meet and discuss their questions, concerns, and successes in coordinating and leading gardens. Saturday from 11:30 am to 9:00 pm, Elver Park, 1236 McKenna Boulevard will host a Peruvian Independence Day Celebration, sponsored by the Peruvian Association “HATARI PERÚ”. The Madison Children's Museum and several Peruvian cultural groups will be participating. Dance performances, including Peru 's traditional “la marinera," and various types of Peruvian and Latin American music will be offered. Bringing a dish to share is suggested. Saturday at 5 pm, the “Queer 'Zinester Roadshow” comes to Madison at 600 Williamson Street, in Madison . The Queer 'Zine Archive Project brings Dave Fried, Kisha Hope, Milo Miller, Kelly Shortandqueer, Max Stein, John Thompson, and Christopher Wilde to share their work. Saturday “Africa Alive festival”, hosted by “Kidlinks World Incorporated, will be held at Capital Brewery in Middleton from 2pm until 8pm. Africa Alive is a fundraiser of which 100% of the proceeds raised will go directly to benefit AIDS orphans and vulnerable children in Southern Africa. West African Dance, Poetry, a Youth Costume Contest, drumming, jugglers and face painting are just some of the planned activities. For details contact 658-1772.
