Today and Saturday at 1, some well-known hip hop artists/activists with a positive message will be coming from around the country to work with youth in a variety of mediums at Art and Activism ’09, sponsored by the Wisconsin Youth Company, 1201 McKenna Boulevard in Madison. This Hip Hop Youth celebration featuring free music, performances and workshops is based around a central theme of community building through Art. The day will include workshops like music production, graffiti, break dancing and spoken word. Registration is required. Today through June 26, Rooftop Cinema returns for its fourth season in the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art’s rooftop sculpture garden at 227 State Street in Madison. The Madison Trust for Historic Preservation has resumed its series of informative and entertaining walking tours through Madison's most distinctive historic neighborhoods. On Saturday, the State Street tour will begin at 10 am at 107 State Street. A Mansion Hill East tour will also be offered at 11 and Bascom Hill at 2 pm. A study designed to treat depression & alcohol abuse is seeking African-American participants aged 48-60. The study involves group counseling sessions for 12 weeks and will offer up to $150 in participant incentives plus gas cards or cab vouchers to help cover travel costs. If interested call 622-5996.

The Madison Folk Music Society announced its 7th season on State Street. Tomorrow and every Saturday until September, the Society and the Greater State Street Business Association will sponsor folk music from 1 to 3 pm at Francis Street Park.
