THE
HISTORY OF August 16th, I'm ___________________ .
And I'm
___________________________. Today in 1987, peace activist George Ostensen
enters the Extremely Low Frequency, or ELF Communication System Transmitter
site near Clam Lake, Wisconsin.
He cuts down three ELF poles and pours blood over them. He also places photos of children inside groundswell electrical control boxes and plants flowers in them. Undetected, he goes to the Terminal Control Center to inform security guards of his actions.
He has to manually
switch off generators which control computer and electricity at the site three
times before the local sheriff is called. He is arrested nine hours after he
enters the site. He will be convicted of two counts of felony sabotage at his
trial in Ashland and sentenced to thirty three months in prison.
