Tonight, the Isthmus Publishing Company is proud to announce the rollout of ‘Isthmus a la Carts’, the first ever Madison-area food cart festival, in Olin Park on the shores of beautiful Lake Monona. The dinner bell rings, rain or shine, at 4p.m., and the music and refreshments run until 8. A series of workshops will be held Saturday, from 1-6 PM at Rainbow Bookstore Co-Op, 426 W Gilman Street to educate the public about NATO, its military interventions, and the plans to protest the upcoming NATO conference in Chicago on May 20. The workshops are ‘Security Culture and Street Safety’, ‘Know Your Rights and Legal Resources’, and ‘Why We Oppose NATO: A Public Forum’ with Michael Johnson, Allen Ruff, and others. These workshops are endorsed by the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice, Madison Infoshop, Solidarity Socialist Feminist Anti-Racist Organization - Madison, Socialist Action, and Socialist Alternative-Madison. The Madison Institute presents a public discussion of David Schweickart's book, "After Capitalism", by Paul Beckett. This will be Saturday from 9:30AM to 11AM at the Grand Hall in Capital Lakes, 333 W. Main St. Free parking is available in the lot across street. Contact Kelly at 438-4178 for more information.
Also this Saturday, at the Rainbow Bookstore, 426 W Gilman Street, starting at 6pm, Iraq Veterans Against the War are taking their ‘Right to Heal Tour’ to Madison. Even while traumatized, service members have been forced to deploy against the best interest of their health and well being. Veterans will share their experiences in the military and lead a teach-in on the military's mental health crises and related suicide epidemic. Call Rainbow Bookstore at 257-6050 for details.

‘We Are Wisconsin’ is having a ‘Solidarity and General Election Kick-Off ‘event at the Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park Street Saturday, from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. There will be speakers, food and music. Feel free to bring a lawn chair. After the program, attendees will head out to knock on doors. Also - help support the National Association of Letter Carriers FOOD DRIVE by bringing a canned food item to the Labor Temple.
