Today at 5pm is The May Day Rally for International Workers Day meeting on the State St. Corner of the State Capitol. 

In celebration of International Workers Rights, Sunil Chitrakar, the director of Craft with Conscience, will speak about supporting socially and economically disadvantaged artisans in Nepal and around the world. The Goodman Library presents Local author Jane Anne Morris.  She will discuss her book "Gaveling Down the Rabble: How 'Free Trade' is Stealing Our Democracy”, This is at 6:30 pm at the Goodman Library, 2222 S. Park St.   Call 266-6395 for information.

"The Ghosts of Miffland: Paul Soglin, City Politics, and the Legacies of Protest” will cover the local movement of the late Sixties, Soglin's political career, and the current Occupy Movement.  This free program is at 7pm in the UW Humanities Building, 455 N. “WHO’S LAND? The Fight for Tribal Sovereignty and Stewardship in Wisconsin” This is also at 7pm at the Hillel Foundation, 611 Langdon St.  Call the Center for Humanities at 263-3412 for event details.

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Port Huron statement, there is an exhibit of Students for a Democratic Society and Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee artifacts and photos in the entryway of UW Memorial Library, through Saturday, June 30.  For more information go to havenscenter.org or call 262-1420.
