The 48 Hour Film Project, an international filmmaking competition held in over 90 cities worldwide, announces its fifth annual Madison, Wis. competition. The 48 Hour Film Project-Madison is a wild and sleepless weekend in which teams compete to create a short film from scratch — writing, shooting, editing and scoring original music — and be named Madison’s Best 48 Hour Film. All films will be premiered at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at the Orpheum Theatre located at 216 State St. The screening is open to the public. Tonight at the Old Fashioned join EMILY’s List staff and supporters to meet, talk, and learn more about how you can help elect the five pro-choice, Democratic women running in the recall elections on August 9. Director Denise Feriozzi will take us through a game plan for the upcoming elections and discuss how you can get involved by joining our Team EMILY volunteer program. This takes place at the Old Fashioned, 23 N. Pinckney St.

Are you a talented home chef with a flair for fresh, seasonal cooking? If so, the Madison Area CSA Coalition needs your help! They are seeking recipes designed by community members like you for their “Farm-Fresh and Fast” cookbook project. Between now and July 31st, send in your original recipe that features fresh, local produce and is ready to serve in under 60 minutes. Wisconsin Books to Prisoners (WBTP) is a non-profit organization sponsored by “Rainbow bookstore” that sends books to prisoners in Wisconsin and other states.
