Today “Public Health Madison” and others invite participants to Madison public library’s “Hawthorne branch.” When there they may buy some fresh and healthy food from a local farmer and pick up library books on nutrition, food, farming and sustainability. This begins at 10:00 in 2707 East Washington Avenue. Call 246-4548 for details.

On August ninth and sixteenth Wisconsin faces State Senate recall elections. Poll watchers are needed for these days so that the fair elections can be insured. If listeners are interested in doing this they can log on and send an e-mail to pollwisconsin@gmail.com.

Every weekday at noon the “Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice” hosts a “Solidarity Sing-a-long” at the Wisconsin State Capitol building. Song books will be provided. Call 250-9240 for details.

“Evening Meals on Wheels” needs volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious low-cost meals to older and differently abled people. Locations are flexible and the time commitment is about one hour per shift. For details call 276-7598.

Low cost spayings and neuterings for dogs and cats are available through the Dane County Humane Society and Maddie’s Fund. There are various times and prices and they include an FVRCP vaccine. Caretakers of feral or free-roaming cats can be helped as well. Call 838-0413 extension 103 for an appointment or details.
