Community members from Ward 32 are hosting a "Community Forum" on tonight at East High school from 1pm-6pm. This is a free event and open to the public, residents from the Emerson East community are strongly encouraged to attend. East High School is located at 2222 East Washington Avenue. Tonight there will be screening of the new documentary Brian & Co Parliament Square SW1 about UK peace campaigner, Brian Haw, who sadly passed away on June 18th in a hospital in Germany after a long battle with lung cancer. Brian Haw’s demonstration for peace at London’s Parliament Square started in June 2001 and thus predates the September 11th attacks and the US led invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. The screening will be followed by testimonials by people lucky enough to have met Brian. Donations will be accepted for Japan Earthquake Relief per the request of the director of the film. The recall elections for State Senators are July 12th, July 19th, August 9th and August 16th. These elections are a crucial first step toward reclaiming the Wisconsin we know and love, and we need your help to ensure the integrity of these vital elections. You can do this by volunteering as a poll watcher with the Election Defense Alliance. Training is provided and you are not required to live in the district to become a poll watcher. Gary Messinger from the Dane County Timebank will be available to explain the nitty-gritty of timebanking, The Timebank is a community reciprocal service exchange where community members offer their time for a time dollar, that you can spend on having someone in the network do something for you.
