Tomorrow, Eight local artists take to the streets to reclaim parking spots by turning them into temporary city parks. The project is the first time Madison will participate in internationalPark(ing) Day to make a statement about the huge amount of community space given up for cars. Saturday is the Conquer Chiari Walk Across America 2010. The Walk is a series of coordinated awareness & fundraising 5k run or walks being held across the country on the same day. Chiari is a neurological disorder where the brain descends out of the skull and puts pressure on the spine. There is a suggested donation. Saturday, Echo Valley Hope sponsors a Celebration of International Day of Peace. The event includes folksingers Anna Stange and Galynne Goodwill, The Dances of Universal Peace, and Makere Ruka Te Karoko, a grandmother of the ancient Waitaha people of New Zealand. Sunday, the UW School of Veterinary Medicine holds a Dog Jog Fundraiser for Homeless Animals. The dog jog is an annual 2 mile run/walk sponsored by that raises money for animal humane organizations in the area. It is at 10 in Parking Lot 60 at the west end of the UW campus.
