Tomorrow, Madison Community Cinema, sponsored by Madison Public Library and Independent Lens/ITVS, presents the film “Copyright Criminals”. The film examines the history and influence of musical sampling, provoking debates about copyright, compensation, and creativity in the age of intellectual property. A panel discussion follows. Tomorrow afternoon, there is a benefit for Madison Quakers entitled “ Vietnam: Moving Forward, a Time for Healing”. This event features former Madison mayor, Paul Soglin, and a slide show of current Vietnam solidarity projects by Mike Boehm. Tomorrow, the Center for Conscious Living holds a celebration and fundraiser for Heifer International featuring Brazilian music from O Trem Dos Tres, plus World Beat with DJ Wyatt Agard. The event aslo has kids activities until 8 pm. There is a suggested donation. This is at the Center for Conscious Living, 849 East Washinton Avenue, from 4 to 1. Sunday, the Christian Peacemaker Team shares an update on their work in the South Hebron Hills entitled “Palestine: Dangerous Passage to School”. Their mission is an on-going project in a small town called atTuwani, providing witness and support to Palestinian children as they travel each day from the nearby village of Tuba, to attend school. This event is sponsored by the Wisconsin Network for Peace and Justice. This is free and open the public and is at the Goodman Community, 149 Wabesa Street, at 5.
