Tonight at sundown, Madison Infoshop, 1019 Williamson St., will offer a free outdoor screening of "Grave of the Fireflies", a 1988 animated film made in remembrance of the victims and survivors of the 1945 U.S. firebombings of Japanese cities which culminated in the A-bombings of Hiroshima & Nagasaki. Snacks or non-alcoholic beverages to share, plus a blanket, chair or pillow are suggested. More info at 262-9036.

Tonight at 7 pm at Tenney Park Shelter, Physicians for Social Responsibility will sponsor Lanterns for Peace. Participants will make a lantern for peace or send letters to Congress for the cause. The lanterns will then be put out on the water to drift in contemplative commemoration of those lost in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. More info at 232-9945 or madpsr@psr.org

Tonight from 6 to 9 pm, Just Coffee will be hosting a fundraiser & open house event at its World Headquarters location, 1129 East Wilson Street, in Madison. Food, drinks, bike tune-ups by Revolution Cycles, tours, coffee tasting, desserts, silent auction and live music are planned for the event. A presentation about the recent delegation to LaFEM in Nicarauga is scheduled for 7 pm. More info at 204-9011.

Tonight at the Monona Terrace Rooftop, 1 John Nolen Drive, Dane Dances returns for its 10th season. The music line-up includes Rhythm & Blues and Jazz at 6 followed by Salsa and Merengue at 8. More info at 358-5894.

Saturday, the Wisconsin Tibetan Association will hold its Annual Picnic at the Rennebohm Park shelter (115 E. Eau Claire Ave.), beginning at 10am. As a fund raiser, the association also organized a live concert at Memorial High School Auditorium at 7:00pm in which the Lungta band from Chicago will perform. More info at 835-3254 or 274-6399.

Saturday Madison native Jenny Pavlovic will sign her award-winning book 8 State Hurricane Kate: The Journey and Legacy of a Katrina Cattle Dog from 11 to 1 pm at Bad Dog Frida, 2094 Atwood Ave. in Madison. The book tells of the author’s journey to Louisiana to help care for rescued animals after Hurricane Katrina, the old cattle dog that she brought home. More info at 442-686.

On Sunday from 1 to 3 pm, an old-fashioned ice cream social will be held as a fund raiser for the Willy Street Park (corner of Brearly and Williamson). Live music and a children's stage parade are planned. More info at 242-0712.
