January 25

This evening Madison Hours holds its monthly potluck and trade fair for the local currency community. Attendees are invited to bring a dish to pass and enjoy conversation with other Hours members. It is in the Social Justice Center, 1202 Williamson Street at 6:00. Call 259-9050 for details.

This evening, the Madison Peak Oil & Climate Change Meet-up screens the films "The Power of Community" and "The New Interval". These respectively describe how Cuba transitioned to a more sustainable economy after the loss of Soviet oil, and how Burlington, Vermont transformed an urban wasteland into a big community farm and network of related enterprises. The event is free, but donations are accepted to help cover costs. This is at the Escape Java Joint, 916 Williamson Street, at 6:30. Call David Williams at 442-8399 for details.
