The Urban League of Greater Madison needs help improving the social economic conditions of African Americans, other communities of color and the disadvantaged. The Wisconsin Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired hosts an exhibit of art made by and for people who are blind or visually impaired. Artists Albert Schmeige and Jamie Landolt will be featured. This is until January fifteenth at 754 Williamson Street. Call 237-8111 for details.

The Madison Coalitions of Older Adults are looking for volunteers this winter to shovel snow for the elderly. This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Call 243-5252 for details.

Project Home is seeking applicants for its annual Hammer for a Heart project which is to be held Saturday, May 5. Last year more then three hundred and fifty volunteers provided eighty-five thousand dollars worth of repairs. The South Central Federation of Labor (SCFL) is helping the United Steel WorkerÂ’s Union 904's Strike and Defense fund. The strike defense fund will not be enough to sustain striking workers. Help is needed. For the duration of the strike they are urging local unions and individual supporters to pledge monthly contributions to adopt a Goodyear family.
