Today on WORT's “A Public Affair”, host Allen Ruff hosts Chris Toensig, editor of "Middle East Reports". They'll be discussing some of the over-arching issues and the current situation in the "Greater Middle East" with special emphasis on the evolving forms of US intervention and occupation, fro Palestine to Afghanistan, from Turkey to Yemen. This evening, the LGBT Senior Alliance hosts an all ages event entitled "A Summer Social on The Patio" with song, food, and refreshments. Singers Ann Christoffe & Fay Ferington and Jazmyn Christian will perform. There is no cover charge, but donations are accepted. This weekend, the 48 Hour Film Project, an international film making competition held in over 80 cities worldwide, holds its fourth annual Madison competition. In the competition, teams compete to create a short film from scratch, with writing, shooting, editing and scoring original music in 48 hours. The winning film will compete against films from around the world to be named “The Best 48 Hour Film of 2010.” The competition starts at 7 pm on Friday, July 16 and ends at 7:30 pm on Sunday, July 18. All films will be premiered at 6 pm on Thursday, July 22 at the Orpheum Theatre in Madison. The screening is open to the public. For more information, check www.48hourfilm.com/madison.
