This evening Madison Public Library’s Lakeview branch hosts a drop-in knitting group for people who wish to quote “learn at new craft” or “work on that unfinished project.” This is at 6:30 in the Community Room of 2845 North Sherman Avenue. Call 247-4547 for details.

The Insurgent Radio Kiosk is a five minute pre-recorded segment featuring a commentary, this-day-in-history, and a calendar of daily events. To be included events must be low cost or non-profit and of interest to people in and around the WORT listening area. It also should interest people who other media might not highlight such as, older people, youngsters, women and people of alternative genders. Briarpatch seeks volunteers to work with teens in crises, by answering the crises line, providing emergency shelter, or, acting as family counselors. Some positions may require training. Call 251-6211 for details or, to volunteer.

Care Wisconsin offers many programs and services designed to help older adults. They offer coordinated health care and long-term support services for Medicaid-eligible older adults. These may have chronic conditions requiring nursing home level of care, adult day centers and home care services. Call 240-0020 for details.

Evening Meals on Wheels needs volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious low-cost meals to older and differently abled people. Locations are flexible and the time commitment is about one hour per shift. For details call 276-7598.

Project Home is seeking eligible Dane County homeowners needing the exterior of their homes painted. They are also looking for volunteers to help low income elderly and differently-abled people whose homes need protection for the elements. Painting day is in mid-August and application day for eligible homeowners is in mid-May. Call 246-3737 for details.
