The first Allied Wellness Cooperative community event will take place Saturday at 2225 Allied Drive from 11:30am - 3:00pm. The event will begin with the new neighborhood sign dedication at 11:30 and proceed with a cookout sponsored by the Dane County TimeBank at noon. A neighborhood container garden planting project involving residents and their children is also planned. For more information contact 843-9616.

Saturday at 9 AM, Fitchburg Fields Garden, 5335 Lacy Road, in Fitchburg will host a Garden Help day. Participants will learn step by step how to start a garden and over several successive weekend, how to prep the garden, put in the spring seeds and cool weather plants, followed by other seeds as the days warm. Tonight at 8 pm, the UW SpacePlace will offer Party With the Stars, a short presentation describing interesting objects that are currently visible in the night sky, followed by refreshments and the setup of telescopes on the rooftop deck (weather permitting). The program will take place even if it is too cloudy to observe with the telescopes. The address is 2300 S. Park St. More info at 272-4779.

Saturday from Noon to 5 pm at 2717 Atwood Ave.(Old Goodman Community Center), a Giant Puppet and Mask Making Workshop will be offered for the Procession of Species Parade to be held June 20th! Attendees will paint a giant puppet owl head, sculpting the bison puppet's face, and working on a bowler hat for the Charles Darwin puppet. Children will be creating bird masks and costumes to wear in the parade. Painting and sewing stations will be open. The workshop is FREE and open to all. Sunday from 11 to 7 pm, WORT Radio will hold its annual block party in the 600 Block of Doty St. Live music, informational booths, craft vendors, and local food will be offered. More info at wort-fm.org or 256-2001.

Sunday the 11th Annual Tour de Timor Sister City Bike Ride will begin at 1 pm at 118 S Bedford St in Madison. Participants will raise funds for grassroots projects in Madison's sister city, Ainaro, East Timor by riding around Lake Monona (approx. 13 miles).
