The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is a cooperative effort by the Internal Revenue Service and others to provide income tax assistance to low-income , the differently abled or elderly people. Call 266-2772 for details.

Low cost spayings and neuterings for dogs and cats are available through the Dane County Humane Society. There are various times and prices and they include an FVRCP vaccine. Call 838-0413 extension 103 for an appointment or details. Caretakers of feral or free-roaming cats can be helped as well.

The Outreach organization is looking for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (lgbt) friendly babysitters. Parents who need a referral or babysitters who are lgbt friendly should call 255-8582 for details.

Until April first the Madison West branch of Liberty Tax Service offers free tax returns. For details call 203- 8050 or visit the office at 360 Junction road.

The Madison Coalitions of Older Adults are looking for volunteers this winter to shovel snow for the elderly. This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Call 243-5252 for details.

The Community Law Project provides free legal services to low-income Dane County residents. They can provide legal assistance in landlord and tenant disputes, Public benefit, or un-paid wages disputes. They are at 2300 South Park Street. Call 260-8221 for details.
