Alliance for Animals presents "Banning Circus Elephants in Dane County - what the public needs to know". Tonight from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Pinney Branch Public Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road. The general public is invited to attend an informative presentation about the use of elephants in circuses and why it is time for Dane county to ban elephant acts. There will be a discussion about the training of elephants, the USDA citations against George Carden Circus, which contracts with the Zor Shrine Circus, and the safety concerns about the circus providing elephant rides to children and adults. A resolution to ban the use of elephants at the Alliant Energy Center has been introduced to the county Board of Supervisors. The county's Public Works Committee was set to decide the issue last week, but members postponed the vote until the group's Jan. 10 meeting. Contact Lynn Pauly at 222-2348 for more information.
