UW Arboretum is having a New Year's Eve Walk this Saturday, from 6:30 pm - 8 pm. The Visitor Center will be open from 6-8:30 p.m. and the walk begins at 6:30. After the walk, hot chocolate will be served as the UW Arboretum welcomes the New Year in a quiet, peaceful way. For more information, call 263-7888.

Madison's Kwanzaa celebration will be from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Evjue Commons, at Olbrich Gardens, followed by the US Bank Eve Festivities which will start at 5 p.m. Kwanzaa is a seven-day celebration of the African-American spirit and culture. Dancing, drumming, and singing will highlight the program. Admission is free, but limited seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about Kwanzaa call 608-249-7155.

The 7th Annual New Years Day Dash will be January 1, 2012 at Quaker Steak and Lube in Middleton. This 5 mile chip-timed run, 2 mile walk, or free 1 mile kid's run is followed by Quaker Steak and Lube wings, Capital Brewery beer, great prizes, giveaways and New Year's Day bowl games on large screen TV's! Start the new year off with a hike at beautiful Devil's Lake State Park. Meet at the south shore parking lot for this easy 1-mile hike. Best for ages 10 and up. Be prepared for the weather. You may want to bring snowshoes, a water bottle, binoculars and a camera. No dogs please. Event starts at 11 a.m. Meet at the Devil's Lake State Park's South Shore parking lot in Baraboo. This is a friendly reminder about the English Conversation the "English Conversation Time" held every Friday at 6:30 pm in Fellowship Hall at Christ Presbyterian Church (944 East Gorham Street). This informal and cross-cultural gathering gives you the unique opportunity to have meaningful interactions with international students studying in Madison.
