The Big Ol' Art Show with Friends of Jeremy presents 50+ local artists in a salon style show with a live dance performance, painting, and DJ - FREE. Tonight at 8:00 pm at the Bartell Theater (113 E. Mifflin St.), Mercury Players presents 'Talking Out of School' – a group of short plays by Wisconsin Teachers. Saturday Science at Discovery is a monthly series that consists of free science exploration and education programs aimed at families and learners of all ages. This Saturday's topic is Green Tips and Fun for Kids and Adults. Build a green plan for your family or household; make your own solar cell using raspberries; race motorboats powered by the sun; get practical tips from Green Madison; or hear from UW–Madison green engineers. Warm up, relax, and refresh at the Verona Public Library during the USA Cycling National Championship Cyclo-Cross races on January 4 through January 8. The races are held at Badger Prairie Park, adjacent to the library, and part of the course can be viewed from the dramatic windows in the library’s open sitting area. You can also view the race while warming up by the fireplace in the quiet reading room. Coffee and hot chocolate will be available from The Sow’s Ear in the community room, with a portion of the proceeds going to the library. The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic is free tax assistance program that serves individuals who have a problem with the Internal Revenue Service and whose income is below a certain level. LITCs are independent from the IRS. Most LITCs can provide representation before the IRS or in court on audits, tax collection disputes, and other issues for free or for a small fee. If you receive a letter from the IRS saying there was some type of problem with your tax return, the LITC can help!
