Community Cinema, a free film series presented by the Madison Public Library will show an Independent Lens film called Two Spirits which explores the cultural context behind a tragic and senseless murder of a Navajo youth slain at the age of 16 who was a 'two-spirit,' who possesses a balance of masculine and feminine traits. The 22nd Annual Energy Fair in Custer, WI is going on Fri. June 17th through Sun. June 19th . Learn all about renewable energy and sustainable living at the largest such fair in the country! Keynotes speakers are Will Allen of Growing Power will speak on the expanding field of urban agriculture and Chris Paine of the movie "Who Killed the Electric Car” and The Central Wisconsin Resiliency Project, an AmeriCorps program, a cooperative effort in central Wisconsin aimed at creating an environmentally, socially, and economically secure future. Rainbow Bookstore Co-op welcomes Suzanne from the AK Press Worker Collective today at 7 pm. Suzanne will be on-hand to give the run-down on how AK Press utilizes collective decision-making and anarchist principles in the process of publishing and distributing radical books in an industry increasingly hostile to such projects. The 22nd Annual Juneteenth Festival titled “Past, Present and Future” is held from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday. The festival will include a parade at 10am from Fountain of Life Church, heritage and children activities, music, teen and health areas. The Madison Area Youth Chamber Orchestra (MAYCO) will present its premier concert tonight at 7:00 PM The program, led by Madison East High senior, Mikko Utevsky, will consist of Alexander Borodin’s Overture to Prince Igor, Vivaldi’s Summer concerto from the Four Seasons, featuring Madison Symphony Orchestra co-concertmaster Suzanne Beia, and Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony.
