This evening the “Madison Urban Ministry” hosts a panel discussion about an historic December, 2010 Georgia prison riot. Panelists include “Frank Emspack” of WORT’s “Labor Radio” and “Jackie Austen” of MUM. This is at 5:00 in the “Neighborhood House”, 29 South Mills Street. Call 256-0906 for details. This evening the “Hawthorne branch” of the Madison Public Library has a discussion of “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” by “Lisa See.” It details how an eighty year old matriarch of the Chinese village, “Tongkuo” writes a memoir of life in the nineteenth century. “Evening Meals on Wheels” needs volunteers to deliver hot, nutritious low-cost meals to older and differently abled people. Locations are flexible and the time commitment is about one hour per shift. For details call 276-7598.
 
Low cost spayings and neuterings for dogs and cats are available through the Dane County Humane Society and Maddie’s Fund. There are various times and prices and they include an FVRCP vaccine. Dane County Friends of Ferals volunteers are dedicated to bettering the future of feral cats. Their mission is to establish a no-kill standard and promote the value and well-being of Dane County area feral cats. Call 467-4067 for details.
