The beginning of May marks the 125th anniversary of Great Strike for the 8-Hour Day. Tune in to Thursday's "A Public Affair" for a critical conversation on contemporary anarchism, its roots and origins with longtime socialist activist Eric Kerl. This can be heard from Noon to 1:00pm. The Sofia Cooperative House will show Starhawk & Donna Read's new permaculture Movie, The Growing Edge. Also, there will be an activity to make seedballs, permaculture guerilla gardening fun!, and share a potluck dinner. Bring extra seeds if you have them and a dish to pass. The University of Wisconsin-Madison Art Department’s Glass Lab will host an Open House and Glass Sale that is free and open to the public on Saturday, May 7th, and Sunday, May 8th from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Glass artists will be performing a range of different glass making techniques. The 2011 Native Plant Sale takes place on May 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the large tents next to the Arboretum Visitor Center. We'll have native grasses; woodland, prairie and savanna plants; trees and shrubs. Orders for shrub/tree and garden mixes begin January 2011.
