Margaret's Fund: A Scholarship for Northside Residents is accepting applications for its 2010 award. Any Northside resident who is an adult returning to post-secondary school after an interruption in their education is invited to apply. The postmark deadline is April 23, 2010. Tonight on WYOU TV at 8 pm, the show Freedom of Peace will air a recording of the UW Primate Research Debate between Rick Bogle & Paul Kaufman. The show can be viewed on Cable 95 and on Digital 991.The debate will also be covered on “Animals Have Rights and Undercover TV “ from 10 to 11:30 pm. More info at wyou.org.

Tonight Frank Hassler of Good Oak Ecological Services will offer the first Wildflower walk of the Spring. Participants will be seeking out skunk cabbage, the first native plant to bloom in the spring, which is able to melt its way through snow and attract carrion flies to its unique flowers. Meet at 6 pm at the Wingra Springs parking lot, on top of the hill, south of the Arboretum's main visitor center. More info at 209-0607.

Tonight at 6pm a Food Security and Food Justice in Madison Workshop will be presented at the Hawthorne Branch Library, 2707 East Washington Avenue. The reality of hunger and poverty amidst plenty on the Eastside will be the focus of the event. The session is free and open to the public. More info at jwmingle@tds.net or 332-1493.

Tonight at 7 pm, the Rainbow Bookstore, 426 West Gilman Street, will host El Monstruo - Dread & Redemption in Mexico City – a book event with journalist and activist, John Ross. More info at 257-6050.

Tonight at 7 pm, Edgewood College will host Momentum for Gaza:Report on the Gaza Freedom March – a talk and slideshow with Joshua Brollier, co-coordinator for Voices for Creative Nonviolence in Chicago.
