Wednesday at noon the African Studies Sandwich Seminar Series presents Jean Feraca, host of a Wisconsin Public Radio’s international news and cultural affairs program. She will speak about her recent trip to Liberia. This is in room 206 of Ingraham Hall Call 262-2380 for details.

Wednesday at noon on WORT’s A Public Affair host Esty Dinur speaks with Jesselyn Radack, author of "The Canary in the Mineshaft." She worked in the United States Justice Department and became a whistleblower when John Lindh, the so-called "American Taliban" was captured and tortured. Call 256-2001 for details.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons there is a food pantry at the Catholic Multicultural Center. Clients choose anything shelved based on food availability. This is between 2:30 to 4:30. Please, register before 1:00 the day before. Call 255-1287 for details.

The North and Eastside Senior Center offers lunches and activities such as, Bingo and exercise classes in the Warner Park Community Recreation Center, 1625 Northport Drive at 11:30 daily. Wednesday evening the Peregrine Forum of Wisconsin Anti-Fascist Book and Film Series, holds a discussion of John Horne Burn’s classic novel “The Escape.” This is in the Escape Java Joint, 916 Williamson Street at 6:30. Call 442-8399 for details.

Wednesday evening there is a meeting of the May Day committee. They are planning the yearly celebration of international working class solidarity. This is in the Lakeside Press building, 1334 Williamson Street at 6:30. Call 255-1800 for details.

Wednesday evening “Veteran’s for Peace” holds a general meeting open to all people who want to work for peace. This is on the second floor of the downtown public library, 201 West Mifflin Street at 6:00. Call 221-0588 for details. This regularly occurs on the third Wednesday of every month.

Thursday at noon on WORT’s A Public Affair host Lea Zeldin speaks with Juwstin Akers Chacon about United States -Mexico border and immigration and his book "No One Is Illegal". Call 256-2001 for details.

The Madison Coalitions of Older Adults are looking for volunteers this winter to shovel snow for the elderly. This is a flexible volunteer opportunity. Call 243-5252 for details.
