This evening, Ian Ayres and Jennifer Gerada Brown read from their book “Straightforward: How to Mobilize Heterosexual Support for Gay Rights”. This is at a Room of One’s Own Bookstore, 307 West Johnson Street, at 6. Call the Bookstore at 257-7888 for more details.

Tomorrow, the UW Department of Horticulture and the West Madison Agricultural Station host a “Horticulture Field Day” featuring walks through the various gardens and a glove sale. Proceeds benefit the Station’s Demonstration Garden. This is at the Agricultural Research Station on Mineral Point Road near Highway M. For more information, call the Station at 262-2257.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Asian American Network Against Abuse of Women holds a “Kids for Peace” Day as part of the South Asia Forum. The purpose of this event is to help children become aware of the importance of and need for peace and harmony on a personal, interpersonal and global level. The hosts will facilitate children through various activities to explore what peace means to them and how they would envision a peaceful world. Prizes will be given for the most creative concepts. Parents are welcome to attend. This is at the Eagle Heights Community Center Gym, 611 Eagle Heights on the UW Campus, from 1 to 6. Tomorrow, Kanopy Dance will conduct open auditions for its professional dance company for the 2005-2006 season. Male and female Modern dancers are invited to participate. Dancers should bring their resumes limited to 1 page; and, if available, photo. An appointment is not required. This is at Kanopy Studio, 133 W. Sunday, the Bayview Foundation celebrates its 21stAnniversary with its Annual Triangle Ethnic Fest. The festival features music on two stages, activities for children, art and craft makers, ethnic food, and more. This is at the historic triangle of Regent, Washington, and Park Streets from 11 to 6.
