THE HISTORY OF September 5th, I'm___________________ .

And I’m ___________. Today in 1993: “The Birmingham News” discloses research by the Southern Baptist Convention, which estimates that forty-six point one percent of Alabamans are going to hell. Martin King of the denomination's Atlanta-based Home Mission Board says the Southern Baptists have conducted such demographic research for years.

He refuses however, to reveal national figures. King says the Baptists aren't claiming to pass judgment (quote): "All we know is that, as we understand the doctrine of salvation, a lot of people are lost.”
