The new labor radio show on 92.1 FM, "The People's Mic," is holding a fundraiser at The Brink Lounge, 701 E. Washington Ave tonight from 5:30-8:30. Matt Rothschild will speak briefly there. Speakers will share their views about the state of our State, the state of our media, and the state of our recall. Discussions will include efforts to create a robust progressive media infrastructure. The event is free and donations will benefit The People’s Mic. Freedom Inc. is having a fundraiser tonight, from 6-8 pm at Bayview Community Center. They will be selling Pho for a small donation per bowl. The money will go to funding the Freedom Inc youth programs: PLUS, Viv Ncaus, Black Beauties, Freemen, and Nkauj Hmoob. For more information about these programs visit aboutfreedominc.com. Freedom Inc has been developing leaders from a young age in the Black and South East Asian communities for years to do health justice, gender justice, anti-violence, cultural work, peer support, and community organizing. In addition to the price per bowl, extra donations will go to raise money to cover the costs of 50 youth who can't afford to pay for the soup but will want to eat.
