Today through Sunday the Madison Concourse Hotel, 1 W Dayton Street in Madison, will host the TimeBanks USA Conference. In more than 40 states and 32 countries, TimeBanking is a force for good and source of hope. It works because people create networks of support where everyone gives and receives. Sunday at 2 pm at A Room of One’s Own, 307 W Johnson Street, Kathleen Rooney, author of Live Nude Girl: My Life as an Object will share her experiences as an artist’s model and offer insight on female beauty, intelligence, art, and pornography while S.L. Widenberg, author of The Adventures of Cancer Bitch discusses her breast cancer treatment with a feminist attitude and humor. More info at 257-7888.

The Madison Area Technical College is looking for mentors and short-term hosts for a group of 20 international students. These students come from developing world countries such as Egypt, Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Turkey and Indonesia. Their study in Madison is made possible by grant funding. Sunday from 1 to 3 pm, the University of Wisconsin-Madison Arboretum, 1207 Seminole Highway, will host “The Moth Madness and Interesting Insects”. Admission is free. Visitors will learn ways to identify insects, while discovering how plants and animals depend on these six-legged creatures. Adopt a cecropia moth caterpillar to rear. Bring a clear 2 liter bottle to make a rearing cage and go home with cecropia eggs and information. Dress for the weather; outdoor and indoor. More info at 263-7888.
